FLOW: Money Class Syllabus
This class is a study in money and the beliefs around money in order to provide a view to habitual relationships and create new patterns, skills, support systems, increased resources, and general wellbeing. There will be personal introspection, group discussion, writing practices, and calming yoga practices. It is a proprietary study that I’ve created. Slowing down and looking at things allows us to see where we may be doing things out of habit rather than intention. Once we have intention, we can build the practices to change and grow. Each class will begin with free writing on money and some easy stretching.
Class 1: What is money? This first class is a discussion of money, relationships to money, stories about money. I’ll provide a short history of money. All of which is intended to allow the students so consciously understand their relationship to money and begin to question that and consider what they want this relationship to become.
Class 2: Personal Relationship to Money What is your personal relationship to money, to accounting, to bills, income and spending – to saving. Where do these habits come from? What beliefs do you have about money and why? Do these beliefs reflect in other aspects of your life? In this class, we’ll discuss these beliefs and look at any stuck spots. We’ll also map out how we’d like things to flow.
Class 3: What foundation do you need in order to move in flow with resources (money)? What do you have? What do you want to build upon? Here are important elements to consider: ▪ Belief in your personal value. ▪ Supportive connections with community. ▪ Regular accounting and money practices. ▪ Care for yourself, including care for your body, eating well, and movement practices, friends and joyful times. ▪ The capacity to receive help, goodness, appreciation. ▪ Practices which support the health and growth of your nervous system. ▪ Connection with nature. The next classes will focus on building specific components from the list above and we may add some more based upon our discussion. We’ll create a stronger foundation by looking at what you’d like to build and what you’d like to let go of, and then apply our practices to begin that shift. We’ll take this one aspect at a time.
Class 4: Accounting Practice What comes up for you when you think about accounting? How does it feel? What things are important in accounting? What would you like to grow into here? How would you like it to feel? 20 minute practice session.
Class 5: Who are you & why does your purpose matter? We’ll explore your life - understanding times when you feel fulfilled, things you enjoy doing, aspects of yourself that you love. We’ll provide reflections and create a foundation for understanding you. We’ll create a plan for care for yourself and nurturing yourself. You are foundational.
Class 6: How do your heart and money relate? What is your relationship to giving, holding and receiving love and is that similar to your relationship with money? How does that relate you receiving help in any capacity? What does true support look like? Are you giving it to yourself? 20 minute money practice (accounting)
