Gratitude in the present.

I often find myself reaching for some future achievement or goal for the future. It will be good when…. I’ll be really happy when…. And set off to do. Anything less is a throw away until then, and then even when I do - I set off again to do something else. I miss a lot there. It is the vibe of the times – competitive, judging, cutting people, missing the brilliance of the whole, all of the growth in the trying. YOU ARE THE CULTIVATION OF YEARS OF WORK. The goodness of your soul unfolding. Not always in the tangible, but in the slow careful steps of learning, blossoming by a knowing intelligence.

Coming into who we actually are rather than an idea of ourselves. It is slow work.

Pause here. Reflect on how far you’ve come. The lessons, the practice, the cultivation. What is it for you?

For me, it is an entirely new life in Birmingham, still unfolding. It is the cultivation of a lifetime required to bring in something entirely new, right in the middle of my deepest transformation. It is hard. I forget sometimes. It is special. It requires me to want to live – to drop old baggage and be in the highs and the lows and the in-betweens of life again. And so, I bring myself into presence with the now appreciating the courage of how far I’ve come, and not worrying about what will be, because I’ve cultivated something special that I want to take time to appreciate. Not only right now, but regularly. And know that all of it is true. My present goodness is right here.

And so, I ask you:

Who have you grown into?

How beautifully far have you come? What courage did it take?

And, how lovely are you right now?

Happy Thanksgiving!
