Hope you're all fully engaged in the wildness of life and finding center and vitality in it all :) I'm dropping into your mailboxes with a mid-summer update on books and teaching and coaching offerings meant to support and love you.
It’s always a good time to look inward and appreciate yourself.
First updates:
Books! Duma’s Song is doing well and is available in many locations throughout Birmingham: The Birmingham Civil Rights Museum and The Birmingham Museum of Art – and, also now available at the New Orleans Children’s Museum. It’s available online at Amazon in soft cover and audible and also at BarnesandNoble.com. Always a good gift or get one if you haven't already!
Book readings and art experiences are available for scheduling – email me to talk and schedule these.
I've been participating in poetry readings around the city - which have been fun and freeing - come out sometime and join me. I've included a reading of one here.
My second book is a sequel to Duma’s Song called Mali-Yah and it is currently being illustrated now by Jamie, the illustrator of the first book. I’m writing the third which is a new series and it’s called Addy Step – about a little boy who’s a zydeco player in Louisiana. It’s a fun one.
I’m in the process of being accepted as an Artist in Residence at UAB in the ArtPlay section. I’ll keep you posted there. There I’ll offer classes on writing children’s books, self-esteem through art and healing the body through emotional release, art and movement.

AND, leaving you with a paragraph of my poetry to reflect upon for yourself:
If I met myself at the door…
Would I close? Checking her clothes, her hair, her intellect -laying upon myself the constriction of man-made imprints forgetting, forgetting so much – blind, unable to see through the grid to the beyond-the-beyond creation which comes from time and space and realms before the mind-made maps, to the wide open sequences of the infinite stored inside-out, within and through me. Could I lift my blinders to see through the filter to me? And with revelation and great appreciation and curiosity - invite her in.
How would you meet yourself? What could you love? What would you see?
