The Soul Song Project
This GoFundMe is in service to supporting 250 kids of the Southeastern United States in remembering their innate value through storytelling and art projects. Each child who participates will receive a copy of my children’s book called, Duma’s Song, which is about this very thing and also have the experience of creating an art project reflecting their unique expression so that they ALWAYS have a source for remembering how special they are.
I'm Jenny-Rebecca Lewis, and for the last several years, I have been remembering myself. My unique value. What I call my soul song, and I teach others – both children and adults through storytelling, art, coaching and speaking engagements. Duma's song is a story based on the ancient African tradition that each soul coming into the world is a gift to be cherished and supported in its uniqueness. And that together, we are a strong community through our full expression.
At the end of the reading and art project, I will post pictures here and we’ll celebrate the beauty of our community together.
Have Me Host Your Own Soul Song Event:
A soul song event is a communal ritual dating back from ancient times where the remembering and recognition of the gift of your soul brings you to know deep in your psyche who you really are. It is a beginning, a community builder, a loving reminder of the importance of YOU.
During these events, I share lessons of ancient tradition and the journey of my own life journey, afterwards, I read my book, Duma’s Song, which is about remembering the gift of your soul. We then take time to share - the audience often has beautiful lessons and stories, we build community this way together. We connect. And, from there it becomes easeful to draw, paint - to remember the beauty of You. And, we celebrate our songs, our community together. Your art is yours to keep so that you ALWAYS remember and have a community to remind you too!
Appreciation and creation of community is important everywhere - in offices, families, among friends.
$1200 per event for groups of 10 people. For additional people add $60 per person. This includes space rental, art supplies and light snacks.
